      State of Rhode Island - 3rd Annual Diversity Business Enterprise Forum

      The State of Rhode Island, Department of Administration, Office of Diversity, Equity and Opportunity (ODEO) is pleased to announce its 3rd Annual Diversity Business Enterprise Forum to connect diverse business owners with resources and opportunities to grow their businesses through government procurement.  The forum is hosted by the ODEO's Minority Business Enterprise Compliance Office (MBECO) and the Supplier Diversity Office (SDO), in partnership with Oasis International, Progreso Latino, Higher Ground International, RI Latino Professional Business Network, Center for Southeast Asians, RI Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, African Alliance of Rhode Island, Rhode Island Black Contractors Association, Latino Contractors Association, Urban Ventures, Rhode Island Black Business Association, Rhode Island Indian Council, Rhode Island Coalition of Black Women, Social Enterprise Greenhouse, New Bridges 4 Haitian Success and NAACP/Providence Branch. This year's forum will focus primarly on state and municipal public works projects, including municipal school construction.  Exhibitors will include representatives from state agencies, municipal government, prime contractors, and owner's representatives.  The event agenda includes the following: 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. - Registration 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. - Municipal Government Workshop - Presented by the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE), the Office of Diversity, Equity and Opportunity (ODEO) and the Governor's Commission on Disabilities (GCD).  This session will include an overview of RIDE's school construction program, training on the MBE program requirements and review process, and an overview of ADA regulations for construction projects. 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. - Break and Registation 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. - Networking - Procurement Exchange - This event will feature a business networking opportunity, where vendors will be able to have a face-to-face conversation with several State agencies, municipal agencies, prime contractors and owner's representatives about current and future projects, and opportunities to conduct business with these entities. 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. - Workshop - "How To Do Business with the State of Rhode Island" - Presented by the RI Division of Purchases. 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. - Workshop - "How To Become Certified as an MBE, WBE, or DBE" - Presented by ODEO/MBECO. Parking is available in the Providence Place Mall parking garage, located just south of the venue.  Limited metered parking is also available on the street.
