Special Emotional CPR Session for EDs/CEOs and Supervisors

You are invited to a special session designed for Executive Directors, CEOs and Supervisors to learn about a powerful tool in working with clients/constituents who are in emotional distress. Come hear an overview of the eCPR program, from the founders of this model, and learn how you can bring this tool to your agency. Emotional CPR (eCPR) is an educational program designed to teach people to assist others through an emotional crisis by three simple steps: Connecting, Empowering and Revitalizing  eCPR is based on the principles found to be shared by a number of support approaches: Trauma-Informed Care, Counseling after disasters, Peer Support, Emotional Intelligence, Suicide Prevention, and Cultural attunement. It was developed with input from individuals who have learned how to recover and grow from emotional crises. They have the wisdom to inform this process by the grace of first-hand experience.  Connecting:  The Connecting process of eCPR is heart to heart and involves deepening listening skills, practicing presence, and creating a sense of safety for the person experiencing a crisis.  Empowering: With eCPR we do not strive to fix, judge, advise, or empower someone else, but rather by seeing others as strong and whole we create conditions that allow us to all be empowered. Revitalizing:  In the Revitalizing process, people re-connect with their vital center, feeling a sense of renewed energy, vitality, and/or sense of groundedness.  Trainers: Daniel Fisher, M.D., PhD.: While carrying out neurochemical research at NIMH, Dan was diagnosed with schizophrenia. To humanize mental health, he became a community psychiatrist, founded the National Empowerment Center, was a member of the New Freedom Commission on Mental Health, helped organize the National Coalition for Mental Health Recovery and helped develop Emotional CPR (eCPR). Oryx Cohen, M.P.A. Oryx Cohen is the Chief Operating Officer of the National Empowerment Center. Oryx is a board member of Empatiko and an Emotional CPR trainer. Oryx co-produced and is a subject in the award-winning social action documentary HEALING VOICES, which was released in April 2016. Oryx lives with his wife and two children in Massachusetts.
