      EVENT DETAILS
      Pamela Means and Robinson Treacher

From the time of its inception, the mission of Stone Soup Coffeehouse has been to provide an opportunity to provide a stage for relative newcomers to the folk music scene. We are more than just a little excited to host Pamela Means and Robinson Treacher at our venue and to give them he proper spotlight their talents deserve. From recording her first tape in the living room of Violent Femmes bassist Brian Ritchie, Pamela Means has gone on to share stages with artists including Ani DiFranco, Pete Seeger, Indigo Girls, Joan Baez, Howard Zinn, Angela Davis, Eve Ensler, David Strathairn, Neil Young, Shawn Colvin, Richie Havens, Patty Larkin, Melissa Ferrick, Violent Femmes, Television, The Radiators, Adrian Belew, Leo Kottke and Janis Ian. Pamela Means has performed at notable venues such as the Newport, Falcon Ridge and Clearwater Folk Festival(s), SXSW Music Conference and, internationally, at the eminent Woodford Folk Festival (Australia), Stockholm Pride (Sweden) and Jazz Cafe Alto (The Netherlands). Pamela Means has also composed for and licensed music to PBS, independent filmmakers and folkpoet Alix Olson's multi-award-winning film and CD projects. With virtuosic musicianship, razor wit and a disarming sense of humor, Pamela Means is building a vibrant and remarkable career, delighting audiences from Anchorage to Amsterdam to Sydney to Stockholm to Honolulu and New York. Thrilled audience members often exclaim they've 'never seen anyone play guitar like Pamela Means!' Plus, Ani DiFranco said to Pamela Means, "you groove so deep, so deep I can't get out. And I wouldn't want to." We guarantee you won't want to either. If entertainment can be defined as an agreeable occupation of the mind, then Robinson Treacher has found a way to encompass this in every aspect of his contribution to music-kind. Whether playing the role as front man to the soul-rock infused Delaware Hudson, as co-collaborator to the Alt-Country based Tensleep, or as a solo singer/songwriter, Treacher seems to drain himself of energy in the ceaseless pursuit of portraying moments of musical passion. This passion is evident in every attempt he makes to involve us, the listeners, in the spiritual orchestrations of emotion that have been meticulously tempered into songs. Just like the long list of New York City artists before him, Robinson feeds off the honest grit found among the "huddled masses"...coupling the blatantly obvious (to a New Yorker at least) with the deeply personal. Chameleon-like in his approach to his songwriting, he refuses to be pigeonholed into one particular genre. Believing that each song is forged from its own unique terrain, he takes great pains in choosing the vehicle by which passengers might best weather the bumps, potholes, and blind curves found between the first note and the last. Admittedly susceptible to the affectations of the senses himself, he asks his audience to participate emotionally as well as physically in a "whole self " conceptual challenge, a 360 degree soul search comprised of the most joyous elation to the bitterest of pains. Robinson has since been featured on Sirius/XMs "The Loft: Live from The Living Room" series, the WFUV Sunday Breakfast, and has shared the stage with such notable artists as Vince Gill, Iris Dement, GE Smith, Joan Osborne, Cheryl Wheeler, Amy Helm and Carrie Rodriguez. He has even been touted by legendary songwriter Don Schlitz ("Forever and Ever Amen", "When You Say Nothing At All", "The Gambler") as being, "...impossible to follow in concert." This evening promises to be a special one as we welcome these two, young, up and coming artists to our stage.
