Earth Day Month in the Valley!

As part of their annual Open Space   programming, JAYCEE Volunteers participated in the April 13th EARTH DAY Townwide Clean-up in the Arctic Business District, along the West Bay Bikepath and other areas between those points and the Arbor Day Clebration.

The JAYCEES Alumni Association, invite you to the 22nd Annual ECOLOGY DAY Festival & Peace Ceremony on Saturday, May 04 @ 10:Am.   ~ Rain Date: UNDER PAVILLION ~

The venue is the Riverpoint COMMUNITY Park 110 Hay Street (Rts. 115/w & 33/e) W. Warwick, the central quadrant (Coventry, Cranston, Warwick & W. Warwick) along the Pawtuxet River Valley and Watershed.

Promoted in concert with such agencies as SERVE/RI & Volunteer Match, the JAYCEES are welcoming their collegiate comrades and their friends and families for this year's outstanding Open Space events. DONATIONS ARE ACCEPTED!

"The JAYCEES have a long and productive history in collaborating with school students, teachers and their families  in Rhode Island and service learning projects",stated Ron Holloway, Chairman of the award-winning JAYCEE Corridor & Arboretum. The JAYCEE Arboretum is a statewide public open space destination that is a melting pot for college students  who desire to fulfill community service requirements or personally choose to participate in volunteer-oriented events.

The JAYCEES (or Junior Chamber), founded in 1920  is a group of young men and women between the ages of 18 - 40 years-old,  that join together to improve their lives and their communities. Their goal is to provide leadership training through community service. The Alumni are dedicated mentors that uphold the long-standing tenets of JAYCEE community service.
Being a worldwide organization in now 110 countries via their Junior Chamber International or JCI, the Individual Development area sets the Junior Chamber apart from other civic, fraternal and social organizations. While many other groups offer community service and social activities, only Junior Chamber chapters offer members the opportunity for self-improvement.

By chairing a local project, a young person can practice organization, delegation, time and resource management, public relations and motivational skills. The JAYCEES also offer training programs, usually at no cost to the member, that teach these skills. Even if a project does not meet its goals, if the chairperson learned from the experience, then it's not a failure. Their dedication to support, mentoring and quality advice among their peers is an assurance for success!
